Mercer University School of Medicine has partnered with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities and River Edge Behavioral Health, to open a groundbreaking new facility in Macon. This innovative center is designed to transform care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across Georgia.
This 34,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art diagnostic facility — the first of its kind in the state — brings together under one roof River Edge’s short-term behavioral and crisis services with Mercer School of Medicine’s personalized, outpatient health care services.
Beyond clinical services, the Center for IDD Care will serve as a hub for education and research. Mercer will train medical students, physicians and allied health professionals in the specialized skills needed to care for this population — developing future experts and leaders in IDD care.
