Building skills for daily living

Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy helps patients develop the skills they need for daily activities. We provide hands-on care and education for both patients and caregivers to support greater independence.

Occupational therapy services

Occupational therapy (OT) helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) build skills for daily life. At the Mercer Center for IDD Care, our occupational therapists create personalized plans to address each person’s unique needs and challenges.

We focus on improving essential life skills like self-care (dressing, grooming, bathing), motor skills, communication and social skills. For those with sensory processing difficulties, we also offer sensory integration therapy to help them better process and respond to sensory information.

Our therapists also work closely with family members and caregivers, providing education and training to support progress at home.
